Spread-a-Bale is launching at Pig & Poultry Fair the Side Throw (ST) Deflector, a new attachment for its Side Throw head specifically designed for outdoor systems with arcs, enabling producers to further improve their efficiency by making reductions in straw usage, spreading time, labour and fuel. The machine is self-loading, consequently only one handler is required to operate.
The Side Throw head features a single vertical rotor which discharges straw up to 8m / 26’ with minimal dust generation to the left, right or out front facilitated by the turn of a valve and canopy. The Side Throw Deflector discharges straw through the head’s 40cm wide side aperture, allowing it to be accurately delivered through the arc doorway and subsequently minimise waste.
Available in a variety of sizes to suit the loader’s lift capacity and bale size, the machine is tractor or telehandler end mounted and is newly available as a trailed option with the system’s main body mounted on a single axle.
Spread-a-Bale’s Michael Hughes explains: “The new Side Throw Deflector will be of interest to all pig producers with outdoor arcs requiring focused discharge for more precise bedding. The machine discharges one round or rectangular bale within 60 seconds thereby demonstrating efficiency, while all Spread-a-Bale models are noted for helping producers to make their straw go further with minimal dust.”
The Side Throw Deflector is available from Spread-a-Bale’s dealer network.
