This wider capability is highlighted through our collaboration with Groundswell, where Spread-a-Bale is supporting a no-till potato project providing a uniform straw cover over newly planted tubers to reduce moisture loss, cut reliance on irrigation, remove herbicide requirements, and build soil organic matter over time. The same principle applies to other root crops such as carrots, and higher-value crops like strawberries – making mulching a practical, mechanised job with minimal labour.
